Running my Pilates Classes in Diss have recently gotten me thinking about this quote.....
Motivation is the spark that ignites your desire to achieve something. It's the feeling that drives you to take action and pursue your goals. Commitment is the fire that keeps you going, even when things get tough. It's the unwavering dedication to your goals, no matter what obstacles you face.
Motivation is important because it gets you started on your journey on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. It's the feeling that drives you to hit the gym, eat healthy foods, sign up for Pilates classes and make better choices for your overall well-being. But motivation can be fleeting. It can come and go, especially when things get tough. That's where commitment comes in.
Commitment is what keeps you going when you're feeling down and discouraged. It's what motivates you to push through the challenges and setbacks. It's what keeps you focused on your goals, even when you don't feel like it.
Sometimes there's so much going on in life that relying on motivation alone is not enough to start a new healthy habit. Sometimes we have to make a commitment, so the choice not to do something is harder than to have it fixed in the diary!
Pilates is a low-impact exercise that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and balance. It's a great way to improve your overall fitness and well-being. But like any exercise, it can be challenging to stick with Pilates.
This is one of the reasons that I have decided to run my Pilates Class in Diss, in 6-weeks blocks. In my personal experience, I know if classes are drop-in, I can easily find excuses to miss a week, as I am relying on motivation which can easily falter, but if I have paid in advance then I have made that commitment to myself and I am 1000 times more likely to show up.
Plus, building a community of regular clients means the energy in the room is so much more friendlier, we have fun! Pilates isn't just about the exercise, it's good to have a giggle too sometimes! Also when we have the same group for 6 weeks, as an instructor, I get to know everyone in the class and can give more adjustments and appropriate levels of an exercise.
Here are a few tips for staying motivated and committed to Pilates:
Set small, achievable goals. Don't try to do too much too soon. Start with small goals, such as attending Pilates classes once or twice a week or mastering a new exercise. Once you've achieved your initial goals, you can gradually set more challenging ones.
Find a Pilates instructor you enjoy. Having a good instructor can make a big difference in your motivation. Find an instructor who is knowledgeable and supportive, and who teaches a style of Pilates that you enjoy.
Make Pilates a part of your routine. Schedule your Pilates classes in advance, book onto a course and stick to your schedule as much as possible. This will help you make Pilates a regular part of your life.
Track your progress. Keeping track of your progress is a great way to stay motivated. You can track your progress in a number of ways, such as keeping a Pilates journal or taking photos of yourself before and after starting Pilates.
Reward yourself. When you reach a Pilates goal, reward yourself with something special. This will help you stay motivated and on track.
Here are some additional tips for staying motivated and committed to Pilates:
Focus on the benefits of Pilates. What can you expect to achieve by sticking with Pilates? Will you improve your flexibility, strength, and balance? Will you lose weight? Will you reduce your pain? Will you improve your posture? Will you boost your energy levels? Be specific about the benefits of Pilates and how it can help you achieve your fitness goals.
No matter what your goals are, motivation and commitment are essential ingredients for success. When you're both motivated and committed, you're unstoppable! How have you made a commitment to yourself recently?
